At least 13 people were killed and six injured in an explosion at a shop on Saturday afternoon in Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh which led to the collapse of three adjacent houses.

Iran Press/Asia: It is reported that some people are trapped under the debris.

The blast took place at the shop in Rohta Bazaar, which was run by a local businessman Kaliyar Mansoori.

His son is running a carpet factory behind the shop and its workers could be among those trapped under the debris,India Today reported.

Locals claimed that Mansoori family was also in the business of making illegal firecrackers.

It appears that a significant amount of crackers were stored in the Bazar, Police confirmed.

A rescue operation and criminal investigation is underway.
