At least 42 people were killed in the flash floods that ravaged several parts of Iran over the last few days, the Forensic Medicine Organization of Iran (FMOI) announced.

Iran Press/Iran news: The announcement was made by the head of the Forensic Medicine Organization, Ahmad Shojaei on Saturday.

According to Shojaei, among the deceased, 19 people were from southern Shiraz city, seven from northeastern Caspian Sea Golestan province, two from western Lorestan province, and two from each of the provinces of Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Kermanshah, Hamadan and Semnan, Iran Press reported.

Five were from Mazandaran province and 3 from Khorasan Razavi and North Khorasan Provinces.

According to an Iran Press report, the Iranian Industry Minister Reza Rahmani visited the flood-hit districts in Iran’s northern province of Mazandaran, on Friday evening.

Rahmani stressed the importance of timely programs to control any forthcoming heavy rain and floods and said that the government will use all means and will compensate all those who have sustained damages to their houses, businesses and farms.

The top commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari also travelled to flood-hit districts in Iran’s northern province of Golestan on Saturday for the second time in a week.

His second visit is aimed at inspecting relief operations there and speeding up handling and support for the rescue efforts, particularly in the city of Gomishan.
