Tehran (IP) - Millions of Iranians simultaneously with massive gatherings of Tasua rituals in the holy shrines of Imam Hussain and Hazrat Abbas in the holy city of Karbala (A.S.) flock to the streets of every town and city across Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: On Monday, the ninth day of Muharram, millions of Iranians from all walks of life in the four corners of Iran, mark Tasua.

Tasua is one day before Ashura, the climax of mourning rituals for Imam Hossain's martyrdom.

Shia Muslims worldwide mark Tasua, especially in the Iraqi city of Karbala. They held mourning processions, beating their chests, and chanting along with eulogists hailing the sacrifices of the Imam and his companions.

Imam Hussain (AS), the third Imam of Shias Imam, was martyred along with his companions during the Battle of Karbala on Ashura day, Muharram 10, 61 AH (680 CE).

Today (Monday, Jul 15, 2024) coincides with the ninth day of Muharram.

The Battle of Karbala was fought on 10 October 680 (10 Muharram in the year 61 AH of the Islamic calendar) between the army of the tyrant of time the second Umayyad caliph 'Yazid I' and Imam Hussain.

Imam Hussain (AS), the third Imam of Shia Muslims, was martyred along with his companions during the Battle of Karbala.
