Iran Press/Asia: Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on Wednesday expressed concern about rising tensions between Iran and the US and said the situation is becoming a matter of serious concern for regional and global peace and security.
Qureshi who was addressing Political and Security Committee of the European Union in Brussels stated: “Sending US combat warships carrying fighter jets to Persian Gulf poses a serious threat to regional peace,” IRNA reported.
Qureshi noted that "instability in Iran is potentially detrimental to Pakistan’s security". He added: "Pakistan believes that the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA) is a significant achievement and must be preserved, especially when IAEA had repeatedly verified that Iran was strictly adhering to the terms of the agreement."
Pakistani Foreign Minister said: "We recognise and welcome the EU efforts to preserve the agreement and ensure commitments to the JCPOA."
The foreign minister expressed Pakistan’s desire to resolve all outstanding disputes within established diplomatic norms.101/205/211
