Iran Press/Middle East: In a phone-call interview with Iran Press, Deputy Governor-General of Khuzestan Province and Special Governor of Khorramshahr Kourosh Mavaddat said a group of Iranian pilgrims, who entered Iraq on Friday via the Shalamche International border crossing, were travelling in the Iraqi province of Basra when their bus collided with another bus.
"In the accident, two Iranian pilgrims died and 28 others were injured," the special governor added.
Mavaddat said that six pilgrims were hospitalised in Iraq and the 22 others were transferred to Vali-Asr hospital in Khorramshahr, in southwestern Iran.
Khuzestan Special Governor-General also said the Iranian consulate in Basra is taking legal steps to arrange the transfer of the two dead pilgrims to Iran.
