Iran Press/ Iran News: Excavations by archaeologists at Ardabil's "Friday Mosque" have led to the unearthing of artifacts belonging to three Islamic eras.
Dr. Hassan Yousefi, head of the excavation, in an exclusive interview with IranPress news agency in Ardabil said: "Ardabil Old Mosque also known as 'Friday Mosque' is one of the most important and oldest mosques in Iran."
Yousefi Added, "Ilkhanid and Safavid artifacts have also been identified, but the most important and oldest relics of the mosque are the Seljuk period, with a very large monument including a house of praying on sides in the four corners of the mosque.
Ardabil's Friday Mosque is one of the three important monuments of the city, listed in 1936 as No. 248 in the National Archives of Iran. 104/219
