Kabul (IP) – Iranian Red Crescent Society's Vice-President said that the country provides humanitarian aid for earthquake victims in Afghanistan.

 

Iran PressAsia: The Iranian Red Crescent Society's Vice-President for Health, Treatment, and Rehabilitation, Peyman Namdar, met with the Deputy Ambassador of Iran to Afghanistan, Hassan Mortazavi.

During the meeting on Tuesday, Peyman Namdar stated that the Iranian Red Crescent Society pays attention to human values in the aid field and is far from political issues.

The IRCS vice-president for health, treatment, and rehabilitation added that after learning about the dimensions of the earthquake in Afghanistan, he went to the earthquake-stricken areas with an IRCS team and aid.

Thousands have been left homeless or injured by the magnitude 5.9 earthquake in Paktika and Khost provinces the last Wednesday, which state media said killed 1,150 people. An aftershock on Friday took five more lives.

During the meeting, the Iranian deputy ambassador to Kabul for his part appreciated the efforts of the Iranian Red Crescent Society team in providing humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society has so far dispatched five humanitarian aid packages, including food, medical supplies, tents, and other necessities, to the Afghan people, and the IRCS rescue team is also present in the earthquake-stricken areas.

IRCS' new consignment of aid, which entered Afghanistan from the Milak border crossing in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province, arrived in Paktika Province on Tuesday.

Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi in a message to the head of the Afghan Interior Ministry in the Taliban government, Maulvi Sirajuddin Haqqani, said that the Iranian nation stands by the Afghan people and announced Iran's readiness to assist the earthquake-stricken people in relief, rescue, treatment, and other essential needs.
