Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's president Masoud Bezikian considered the development of relations with Russia as a strategic partner as one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of the agreements reached between the two countries.
Emphasizing the importance of the regional and international cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia, Pezeshkian stated: We believe that the era of one-upmanship of some powers, including the United States, in the world is over, and the sharing of positions and cooperation between Iran and Russia in the direction of promoting a multipolar world will lead to further promotion of security and world peace.
In another part of his speech, Pezeshkian mentioned the terrible crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza and the actions of this regime to start fires in the region and said: the criminal actions of this regime against the oppressed and defenseless people of Gaza, as well as the attempt to assassinate martyr Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement in our country, are a clear example of violating all international laws and regulations.
Iran's President strongly criticized the support of the United States and some Western countries as human rights claimants for the crimes of the Zionist regime and stated: The Islamic Republic of Iran is in no way seeking to expand the scope of war and crisis in the region, but this regime will definitely receive the answer for its crimes and arrogance.
While appreciating the positions of Russia in supporting the Palestinian people and condemning the criminal acts of the Zionist regime, Pezeshkian emphasized the determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to develop the interactions between the two countries, especially in political and economic affairs.
Sergei Shoigu, the Secretary of the National Security Council of the Russian Federation, in this meeting, while congratulating the election of Dr. Pezeshkian as the President of Iran, considered the Islamic Republic of Iran to be one of Russia's key and strategic allies in the region, and expressed his satisfaction with the joint efforts of the two countries to create a multipolar world and also ensure the security of the region, he stated: The relations between the two countries are growing in all sectors and there are very good prospects for the development of interactions.
The Secretary of the National Security Council of Russia also emphasized his country's interest in accelerating the completion of joint projects between the two countries, including the North-South Corridor, and stated: Russia attaches great importance to cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in international organizations, including the United Nations, BRICS, and Shanghai, and we will try to expand these cooperations.
Shoigu arrived on Monday at the head of a military delegation, signaling a deepening of ties between the two nations, also met Ali Bagheri, Chief of the General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces.
In their meeting, Major General Bagheri emphasized the strategic, deep, and long-term nature of relations between the Islamic Republic and the Russian Federation, asserting that these ties would not be disrupted by changes in government. He expressed confidence that relations would strengthen under the new administration.
Shoigu echoed these sentiments, discussing Russia's commitment to comprehensive cooperation with Iran in regional affairs. He condemned the recent assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas, labeling it a cowardly act that seeks to escalate tensions in the region. 204
