Nowshahr (IP) - Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani on Wednesday said Iran should pass the sea-oriented economy and pay attention to the economy of the oceans.

Iran PressIran news: The Commander of the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday at the Second National Conference on 'Maritime Civilization, The Path of Progress' at Imam Khomeini University of Marine Sciences (RA) at Northern Port of Nowshahr referring to the vital importance if Sea and Ocean oriented economy called for participation and presence of scientific and academic centers in the ocean-oriented economy.

"Although many efforts have been made in maritime economy, but it is not enough.It is a very important that all experts, specialists and officials in all maritime industries, from shipping to fisheries work together to expand maritime economy," Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, The Commander of the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran said.

Appreciating the coordinated works of government and parliament in the achieved progress in the maritime industries and Defense, the Iranian admiral emphasized: Today, we must pass the sea-oriented economy and pay attention to the economy of the oceans and not look at the limitations and see the future. 

"One day, American specialists said that Iran would never reach the shores of Indonesia, but today, by trusting in God and experiences of local knowledge and expertise, we have crossed not only the Pacific Ocean, but also the Atlantic Ocean, and we were able to cross the world with authority.

He added: "During the mission of the 86th fleet, a destroyer of the same size as the Dana destroyer was sunk while crossing the Pacific Ocean, and many people contacted me and said that you should cancel your operation because of the sunken American ship, but I said that our ships made by Iran and can successfully carry out its mission, and this great work was done by the will of Almighty God and caused the astonishment of the world.

On September 20, 2022, Iran’s 86th Naval Fleet, which included the home-built Dena Destroyer, departed from Bandar Abbas, a port city on the Persian Gulf. It finally anchored at Oman’s Salalah harbor on the 236th day of its journey.

The flotilla completed a lengthy cruise around the world and sailed across the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic oceans without needing assistance from land for the first time in Iran’s naval history.
