Iran Press/Iran news: The nationwide ceremonies kicked off on Saturday, exactly 41 years after the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace) returned to Tehran, on 1 February 1979, having spent 15 long years in exile, mostly in the Iraqi city of Najaf.
A special ceremony is being held at Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum in south Tehran, with a host of senior state and military officials as well as thousands of ordinary people attending.
The ten-day-dawn festivities will culminate in nationwide rallies on 11 February this year, the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
The Revolution toppled the US-backed Pahlavi monarchy and set the stage for the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 101/211
