Tehran (IP) - The head of the parliamentary friendship group of the Islamic Republic of Iran-Portugal said that the policy of sanctions and putting pressure on independent countries was a failed policy.

Iran PressIran News: "Iran is moving towards development, progress, and self-sufficiency with all its might," Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi said in a video conference with Vice-Chairman of the Iran-Portugal Friendship Group Luis Graca.

Rahimi Jahanabadi said: "The expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries in various fields and interests is in the benefit of the two nations."

The Vice-Chairman of the Iran-Portugal Friendship Group Luis Graca also said in this virtual meeting: "Iran's geopolitics in the region and the world and the five hundred years of relations between the two countries, has led the parliamentary friendship group with Iran in the Portuguese Parliament to put the promotion of relations between the two countries on its agenda."

"Sanctions are an inhumane policy that only targets the livelihoods of the people and puts pressure on them," Graca said, criticizing the imposition of unjust sanctions on Iran.
