Iran Press/ Iran news: Iran's Judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Esmaeili in response to Iran Press news agency correspondent at his weekly press conference, said that the Judiciary has taken adequate measures to pursue a triple-urgency bill by Iran's Parliament in connection with the assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani.
The spokesman added, "One of the reasons to prove any crime is through confession. US President Donald Trump personally and the US government have officially acknowledged the terrorist act which led to the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani. That is why we will certainly prosecute the US government and Trump himself."
Trump's prosecution will be conducted through three judicial processes:
First, it will go through the Criminal Courts of the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to Articles 5 and 8 of the Islamic Penal Code.
Secondly, it will be dealt with through the Iraqi judicial authorities because the terrorist attack took place there and the citizens of Iraq were killed in it and the security of the Iraqi nation has also been compromised.
Thirdly, the prosecution will be conducted through the Hague International Criminal Court.
"We will pursue these measures simultaneously through these judicial processes. We will file charges against the US military, government, and president. Even if the judicial process becomes prolonged, we will not give up," he said.
Esmaeili concluded, "Department of International Affairs of the Judiciary and Iran's Foreign Ministry pursue all of these measures with persistence."
The late Commander of Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who had traveled to Iraq on the official invitation of the Iraqi officials, was assassinated by the US drone attack in Baghdad on January 3, 2020, along with the second-in-command of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis as well as eight companions.
