Tehran (IP) - The Head of Iran's Central Bank (CBI) said the Russian and Iranian banks will soon operationalize financial transactions with their domestic credit cards in the two countries.

Iran Press/Iran news:  Mohammad-Reza Farzin told reporters in the Wednesday cabinet session that in the first phase, the Iranian credit cards will get into transactions with those Russian banks that the CBI has signed an agreement with them. 

In the next phase, the Russian credit cards will be usable in Iran's ATMs, and in the third phase, which will be operationalized in the next year, both cards will work on POS devices in the two countries, Farzin said. 

Farzin unveiled the Russian-Iranian MIR-SHETAB Payment Network project aimed at boosting economic relations and facilitating financial transactions between Iran and Russia.

Markets, transit, logistics, customs, and bank facilities can benefit from the Iranian-Russian joint Banking network.
