Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Iran Health Insurance Organization, Taher Mohebati, has emphasized that all Iranians can have free health insurance.

Iran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Sunday, the CEO of Iran Health Insurance Organization, Taher Mohebati, said all Iranians, even Iranians living abroad, can have free health insurance. All Iranians can benefit from free health insurance, whether at home or abroad.

He added: "Of course I do not agree with those who are rich getting free health insurance, but there is provision in the law which prohibits those Iranians from getting insurance and to be under insurance coverage, but even those Iranians who travel or study abroad, can benefit from free insurance coverage, and when they travel, they can use their insurance booklets."

Mohebati added: "The next point to mention is foreign nationals, those who are not Iranians, but either live here or travel within Iran. According to legislation passed as part of  the 6th development plan in the parliament, the government is duty-bound to provide foreign nationals with basic health insurance. The health insurance charter was finalized and handed over to the government. As far as I know, 330000 foreign nationals annually will get (health) insurance coverage in Iran."
