Mashhad (IP) - Pivezhan village, 65 kilometers from Mashhad, is one of the tourist and pilgrimage centers of northeast Iran.

Iran Press/Iran news: Pivezhan enjoys a variety of natural attractions due to its location in the middle of the Binalood Mountains and enjoying more than 60 aqueducts and 22 fresh-water springs.

The 'Passion Reading' (Ta'zie) which has a 300-year history in Pivezhan as well as setting up tents are among the customs of this tourist-attracting village during the ten-day Muharram mourning period, [a set of rituals marking the anniversary of the Battle of Karbala, and the martyrdom anniversary of Chief of Martyrs, Aba Abdollah al-Hussein (peace be upon him) by the forces of the second Umayyad caliph].

As the month of Muharram arrived, on Friday, August 31, 2019, the 'setting up tents' ritual of the village Pivezhan was registered by the Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Crafts and Tourism with people, tourists, and officials in Khorasan Razavi province attending.

The historic village of Pivezhan, 6,300 BC is the place for Imamzade Mohtasham and Imamzade Hashem tombs, offsprings of Ali ibn Husayn Zayn al-Abidin (PBUH) also known as Imam al-Sajjad, the fourth Muslim Imam, which are sites of pilgrimage for the followers. 101/211/208
