Iran Press/Iran news: A senior parliamentarian representing the people of Golpayegan in the Majlis, Ali Bakhtiari told Iran Press: "Today's session was behind closed doors and MPs discussed America's sanctions against Iran, regional and international issues of concern, and Iran's 60-day ultimatum to the European Union to rectify its stance and to honour its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA)."
The member of parliament representing Mahallat in the Majlis, Hojjat-ol-Islam Alireza Salimi told Iran Press: "None of the political factions in the parliament support the idea of negotiating with the United States, and the idea has only gained traction among those who either secretly or openly work for the enemy. Virtually all Iranian MPs emphasised that no negotiations should take place [between Tehran and Washington]."
In further remarks, Hojjat-ol-Islam Alireza Salimi said: "The circumstances surrounding the explosion of a Saudi ship was also discussed in the closed-door session, with MPs considering the possibility of a false-flag operation or a deliberately-staged attack on a ship to frame-up a country."
He added: "Speaker Larijani who chaired the parliamentary session also pointed out that the Europeans have failed to carry out any of their commitments and obligations under the JCPOA during the past ten days. Larijani said Italy and Greece did not purchase any Iranian oil, even when waivers were being issued to those countries who were customers of Iran."
Hojjat-ol-Islam Salimi added: "Iran wishes to preserve the JCPOA, something which is even more important than making INSTEX operational."
