Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and German Chancellor Angela Merkel stressed the need to keep the JCPOA, at a joint news conference on Monday.

Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in a joint news conference stressed the need to safeguard the Iran nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA.  Both leaders stressed that killing the deal will have 'unpredictable outcomes'.

Merkel also repeated support for the deal, saying that the agreement is the outcome of constructive talks to which signatories should remain committed.

Commenting on business ties between Europe and Iran, Merkel said: "It will be up to the (European ) companies themselves whether to continue cooperation with Iran or not".

The Chinese premier arrived in Berlin at the head of a high-ranking political and economic delegation. Li Keqiang participated in a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The two high-ranking officials met just few days after a high-profile meeting on JCPOA in Vienna where participating ministers in a statement stressed the need for fulfilling commitments in various fields including maintaining financial channels and preserving Iran’s oil and gas exports.
