Reason behind IRGC sanction is US desperation: Salami

The top commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has said US sanctions against senior IRGC commanders is a sign of America's desperation and inability to confront Iran's power.

Iran Press/Iran news: "Shooting down US Navy RQ-4A Global Hawk drone was the fruit of the country's sanction against Iran and the recent sanctions show that US officials are so desperate and exhausted," Major General Hossein Salami stated on Wednesday.

According to an Iran Press report, the top commander of the IRGC added: "The recent sanctions are the futile reaction to the downing of a US drone and it is clear that the country's officials wanted to vent their anger and frustration."

US president Donald Trump imposed new sanctions against Iranian official, Including Iran's leader organization and associates with additional financial sanctions.

The sanctions come after Iran shot down a US intruding drone last week and the US staged a failed cyber-attacks against the Iranian defense systems after Trump's order, an act as a retaliation for the downed drone.

Hours before the US announced its new sanction, Iran has said no more sanctions have remained for the US to impose on Iran.

"US administration has already imposed every kind of sanctions on Iranian individuals and companies and has launched economic terrorism and war against Iran. There is no more type of sanctions that may have been untried by the US,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a press conference.
