Iran's health ministry spokesman, Iraj Harirchi, speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Monday, emphasized that ministry officials are working hard to lessen the impact of sanctions on the lives of the general public, and hospital patients.
The health ministry spokesman, Harirchi added: "We are carefully monitoring the situation, we won't allow the price of pharmaceutical drugs to increase substantially, because patients may find it hard to cope, and also leads to a decrease in profits of medical manufacturing companies. Supporting the less-well-off, the working class, and the middle class is our heavy responsibility, and this can only be accomplish by appropriate planning and proper policy making."
Last Saturday, Iran's health minister, Seyyed Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi, unveiled a number of anti-sanction plans which are being implemented in the healthcare sector.
Ghazizadeh Hashemi, speaking at a meeting with heads of medical universities, said: "Iran's health ministry has drawn up plans to counter U.S. sanctions against the country. The plans to confront sanctions play a vital role."
