Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi arrived in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum Thursday for a two-day visit.

The Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, received Sisi on Thursday afternoon, at Khartoum International Airport.

The Egyptian leader will, among other engagements, hold talks with President Bashir.

Egyptian ambassador to Khartoum Usama Shaltot told the media that bilateral issues would top the two presidents' agenda.

Following the official reception ceremony, the two presidents held a session of talks at the Presidential Office at Khartoum Airport and then left for the Sudanese Republican Palace where a joint summit is scheduled to discuss issues related to boosting bilateral relations between Egypt and Sudan, as well as to discuss many African, Arab, regional and international issues of common concern.

The tumultuous relations between Sudan and Egypt experienced last December a new crisis over media attacks against al-Bashir after a visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Sudan. Also, Sudan accused Egypt and Eritrea of supporting rebel groups to attack Kassala State on the eastern border.

However, the two countries recently developed joint security cooperation against the opposition groups from both sides.
