Iran Press /Iran news: Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, president Hassan Rouhani said the people are behind the many achievements and successes of the Islamic revolution, adding: "Of course, all governments have played their role, but people’s resistance, steadfastness, hard-work and devotion has been the decisive factor."
Commenting further President Rouhani said the Islamic Revolution brought independence for Iran, something which is very important. He added: "Before the revolution, others used to decide for us and Americans and some Europeans were in our country, and meddled in our domestic affairs, including in the army, military industry, economics, culture and radio and television, but today the people of Iran are the main decision-makers."
Stating that everything in Iran is based on people’s votes, he said, that this national sovereignty is the biggest achievement of the Islamic Revolution.
President Rouhani also called for promotion of 40-year achievements of the Islamic Revolution, saying as we are going to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the government and all officials need to pay special attention to two very important issues: (1) job creation and employment for young people (2) Providing the everyday needs of ordinary people, and raising the living standards of the public.
These must be top priorities for the government, he added.
In further remarks, president Rouhani said: "The changing of the structures in the country through the victory of the Revolution, the eight-year Imposed War [with Iraq] and the unjust sanctions of the enemies against Iran have been three important incidents affecting the economy of our country in the past 40 years."
Referring to sanctions as the third incident after the revolution and the war, he said, US’ sanctions on oil and gas investment are related to Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani’s tenure as the President.
All of these, except sanctions that started since 1980, have happened to us after the war and then, the UN Security Council (UNSC) sanctions began under the pretext of the nuclear issues, until 2015, he said.
President Rouhani said US and the Zionist regime are responsible for the pressures put on Iran during the past four decades.
