Tehran (IP) - "We feel that the Americans have committed a strategic error by assassinating Late Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, and they have been given inappropriate consultations by reactionary regional reactionary leaders and Zionists," Iran's Foreign Minister said.

Iran PressIran news: Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remarks in an interview with IRIB, insisting that the assassination of Late Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani was a cowardly terrorist act.

"Diplomacy and the battlefield are complementary to each other, and the cooperation of Gen. Soleimani has played a key role in advancing the Islamic Republic's goals," he said.

Zarif added that the US terror attack reflects the fact that the martyrdom of individuals such as Gen. Soleimani will have a bright future for the Iranian nation and the axis of resistance.

Zarif said: "The attack has created hatred among the public and the US will see the outcome of this action."

He added: "The Americans have targeted one of Iran's top military officials. We are not blackmailed by the Americans and we reserve the right to respond at the right time and right place. This attack will certainly not provide security for the American people, as the financial market and oil prices indicate."

He said: "Swiss authorities have brought a rude message from the US and have received a resolute written response."

Zarif added that the Americans are worried about the consequences of their irrational action; Americans have desperately taken diplomacy gesture. By assassinating Gen. Soleimani, they have practically paved the way for their removal from the region."

Zarif said Gen. Soleimani was a soldier of peace as he fought against terrorism; with the new command, the IRGC Quds Force would continue the same path as the Late Soleimani.

He emphasized: "The assassination of Gen. Soleimani will not be the last terrorist act of the Americans against the Iranian nation but will certainly not shake the will of the Iranian nation."

Elsewhere in the interview, Zarif said: "Gen. Soleimani loved the martyrdom."

Zarif praised the honesty, tranquility, intelligence, and self-esteem as the hallmarks of Gen. Soleimani.

He added: "In the Islamic Republic, someones do not understand how our relations with the Resistance Groups are. Our relationship with the resistance groups is fraternal, and General Soleimani has resolved many of the differences between the groups. He was a modest person and always decided based on logic."

Zarif concluded that the US President Donald Trump had done everything he could to be elected for the next round. The assassination of Gen. Soleimani was both intended for this purpose and perhaps to overshadow his impeachment process. But in my opinion, he has made a miscalculation and this will not help him in the upcoming elections."
