The Yemeni armed forces have confirmed the successful trial of a hypersonic missile, boasting formidable destructive capabilities.

Iran Press/ West Asia: Reaching velocities up to Mach 8, or approximately 6,200 miles per hour, the missile utilizes solid fuel propulsion, details provided by an unnamed source to Russia's Sputnik news outlet on Thursday suggest.

Plans to commence production of this missile for operations within the maritime corridors of the Red and Arabian Seas, alongside the Gulf of Aden, and for potential strikes against Israeli targets, were also disclosed.

Further, the source highlighted that, following an extensive period of trials, Yemen has enhanced the potency of its missile and drone arsenal, now capable of delivering warheads with double the explosive force previously available.

This announcement trails a statement by Yemen’s Ansarullah movement leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, stating the utilization of novel weaponry in recent Red Sea maneuvers which, he says, caught American and British forces off guard.

Echoing this sentiment, Yemen’s Defense Minister, Major General Mohammad Nasser al-Atifi, last week hinted at additional strategic assets yet to be deployed by Yemen’s Armed Forces.

Yemeni forces have launched repeated drone and missile strikes in the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb Strait and Gulf of Aden in support of Palestinians.
