Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at a parliamentary session on Saturday, Ali Larijani said the US voices its readiness to negotiate on the one hand, and imposes sanctions on Iran's foreign minister on the other.
On 31 July, the US departments of State and Treasury announced the imposition of sanctions on Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Larijani criticised the quixotic behaviour of Donald Trump's administration and said, "Sanction all Iranians and you will see nothing will happen," Iran Press reported.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the parliament speaker noted that Iran's strength and resistance, has compelled the UK to release the illegally-seized supertanker, Grace 1.
The Supreme Court in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar approved the release of Grace 1 on Thursday, which was seized off the coast of Gibraltar by Britain's Royal Marines on 4 July.
Referring to the UK involvement in the overthrow of Iran's popularly elected prime minister, Mohammad Mossadegh in the 1953 coup d'état orchestrated by America's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Larijani added that Iran is a powerful country now, so they have to end their piracy and release the impounded supertanker.
Larijani also congratulated the anniversary of Hezbollah's victory against the Israeli regime in the 33-Day War, saying this victory changed the New Middle East project to the resistance project in the region.
The war started on 12 July 2006 and continued until a United Nations-brokered ceasefire went into effect in the morning on 14 August 2006. 101/211
