IP - Western media including US and Hebrew outlets say that "highly classified US intelligence about Israel’s plans for an attack against Iran leaked and distributed in social media and websites.

Iran PressIran news: On Saturday 'Axios' in a report claimed that "U.S. officials are extremely concerned about a potentially major security breach after two alleged U.S. intelligence documents about Israel's preparations for an attack on Iran were published in social media platforms."

According to the report, documents released by a source in the U.S. intelligence community detailed US observations of measures taken by the Israeli Air Force movements on October 15-16.

CNN: US IS INVESTIGATION ON HIGHLY CLASSIFIED INTELLIGENCE

US News Network CNN on Saturday reported that the "US is investigating a leak of highly classified intelligence about Israel’s plans for retaliation against Iran and added that "One of the people familiar with the matter confirmed the documents’ authenticity."

" They are marked top secret and have markings indicating they are meant to be seen only by the US and its “Five Eyes” allies — Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom."

"One of the documents, which says it was compiled by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, indicated the plans involving Israel moving munitions around."

Another document says it is sourced to the National Security Agency and outlines Israeli air force exercises involving air-to-surface missiles, also believed to be in preparation for a strike on Iran.

A US official said the investigation is examining who had access to the alleged Pentagon documents.

Any such leak would automatically trigger an investigation by the FBI alongside the Pentagon and US intelligence agencies. The FBI declined to comment, CNN reported.

“If it is true that Israeli tactical plans to respond to Iran’s attack on October 1 have been leaked, it is a serious breach,” Mick Mulroy, former deputy assistant secretary of defense for the Middle East and a retired CIA officer told CNN.

Mulroy added that “the future coordination between the US and Israel could be challenged as well. Trust is a key component in the relationship, and depending on how this was leaked that trust could be eroded.”

The National Security Council referred CNN to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Pentagon for comment. The Pentagon and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency declined to comment.

THE CONCERN IS IF THERE ARE MORE

Another US official told CNN that “the concern is if there are more.”

The documents, allegedly showing a visual intelligence report by the Department of Defense National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), noted observing Israeli Air Forces exercises using air-launched ballistic missiles (ALBMs), air-to-surface ballistic missiles, fighter jets, UAVs, and refueling tankers previously used during Israeli strikes on Yemen.

Iran's IRGC on October 1 in retaliation for the assassination of the Late Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh attacked Israel with 200 ballistic missiles.

The attack sent most of Israel to bomb shelters and caused damage in residential areas and military bases.
