Chinese envoy to the UN, Zhang Jun called the US veto of a UN Security Council ceasefire resolution as a ‘license to kill’ in Gaza.

Iran PressAmerica: “The US claims that a resolution would interfere with the ongoing diplomatic efforts is untenable,” Zhang said according to Xinhua.

“The continued passive avoidance of an immediate ceasefire is nothing different from giving the green light to the continued slaughter,” he said.

Palestine’s United Nations envoy Riyad Mansour has also said that more babies will be murdered due to the UN Security Council’s (UNSC) failure to call for a ceasefire in Israel’s war on Gaza.

“By the time this Security Council session ends, more than 25 Palestinians will have been killed, it means more babies will be murdered,” Mansour said in a damning speech condemning the group.

His comments came after the US used its veto to kill yet another UNSC resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, a move Mansour described as “absolutely reckless and dangerous”.

Israel has pounded the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7. killing at least 29,195 and wounding 69,170 others. The death toll in Israel from the October 7 Hamas attacks stands at 1,139.

Israel had announced its goal from the beginning of the operation to destroy Hamas and then release the Israeli captives in Gaza, but after more than four months, not only this goal has not been achieved, but Israel's insistence on these two goals has caused differences in that society.
