IP - Having launched an attack and aggression on Yemen, the US and its allies claimed that their goal is allegedly to "reduce tensions and restore stability to the Red Sea" by publishing a joint statement, calling it a self-defense to weaken Ansarallah military capabilities.

Biden added in a statement issued by the White House claimed that the strikes are a direct response to the unprecedented Houthi attacks against international naval ships in the Red Sea, including the use of ballistic missiles.

The US President also claimed that the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea endangered US forces, civilian sailors, trade, and freedom of navigation.

In another part of their statement, they claimed: "These precise attacks were to disrupt and reduce the capabilities of the Houthis in threatening global trade and the lives of international sailors in one of the world's most vital waterways."

America and its allies added: Our goal is still to reduce tensions and restore stability to the Red Sea, but our message is clear: we will not hesitate to defend lives and protect the free flow of trade against continued threats in one of the world's most vital waterways.

Following his country's military aggression against Yemen, US President Joe Biden announced: On my order, the United States military forces, together with Britain and with the support of Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands, carried out successful attacks against several targets in Yemen.

The Associated Press news agency reported, citing "several American officials," that the American and British armies targeted "more than 12 sites used by Yemen's Houthis."

These military targets have included logistics centers, air defense systems, and weapons storage facilities.

He also reported that Tomahawk missiles were fired from air, ground, and subsurface platforms, and these attacks aimed to reduce the Houthis' continuous attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

The report added that the attacked targets included radar systems, drone storage and their flight sites, ballistic and cruise missile warehouses, and their firing sites.

The US President pointed out that crews from more than 20 countries were threatened or taken hostage in acts of piracy in the Red Sea, justifying that what he described as a defensive measure today came in the wake of the escalating attacks launched by the Houthis against commercial ships.

On the other hand, CNN quoted an American official as saying that one of the goals of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's tour in the region is to tell regional leaders that the United States taking military action against the Houthis should be seen as defensive and not escalatory.

For his part, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that the Royal Air Force carried out targeted strikes targeting military facilities used by the Houthis in Yemen.

Sunak added in a statement that the United Kingdom took limited, necessary, and proportionate self-defense measures to weaken the Houthis’ military capabilities and protect global shipping.

Sunak confirmed that the British Navy will continue its patrols in the Red Sea as part of the multinational operation to deter the Houthis.

The British Prime Minister urged the Houthis to stop their attacks and take steps to reduce the escalation, noting that the Houthis continued their attacks in the Red Sea despite repeated warnings from the international community.

The United States and Britain launched strikes against targets of the Ansarullah Houthi group in Yemen early today. An American official told Al Jazeera that the strikes targeted radar sites, drone platforms, missiles, and coastal monitoring sites, noting that the operation had ended, “but we reserve the right to respond if the threats continue.”

The official confirmed that the British strikes against the Houthi sites in Yemen hit their targets, and a US defense official indicated to Al Jazeera that the strikes against the Houthi sites in Yemen involved ships, warplanes, and submarines.

The Wall Street Journal quoted an American official as saying that the US-led coalition launched more than 12 raids on Houthi targets.
