(IP)- In a stark rebuke to the Israeli Prime Minister's rejection of a two-state solution, the United Nations Secretary-General has warned that abandoning this longstanding framework for peace will indefinitely prolong the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Iran PressAmerica: Antonio Guterres also warned about a grave threat to global stability and emboldening extremists worldwide.

Speaking at a ministerial meeting of the UN Security Council, Guterres, in his most forceful statement to date on the recent Gaza war, asserted that "the right of the Palestinian people to build their own fully independent state must be recognized by all.

He emphasized that a one-state solution, with its inherent denial of Palestinian freedom, rights, and dignity, is "unimaginable" and would only exacerbate the conflict, deepening divisions and fueling instability across the region.

Guterres also sounded a chilling alarm, warning that the risk of regional escalation is "now becoming a reality."
