Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at a press conference on the occasion of Parliament (Majlis) Day on Sunday 1st December in Tehran, Ali Larijani emphasized that Iran is not worried about recent protests in Iraq since the capable leadership of that country will certainly deal with the situation.
Asked whether there will be any breakthroughs in the deadlock between Tehran and Washington, Ali Larijani said the maximum pressure policy of the Trump administration is wrong, and the Americans must certainly rethink this policy.
Larijani pointedly added: "This policy (of maximum pressure) has not worked in the past either. If the Americans learn from their past mistakes and don't repeat the same mistake, then I think there is no deadlock, and we will move forward.
The Parliament Speaker in an answer to a question about JCPOA, INSTEX, and "trigger mechanism" said, "Some EU countries don’t express their unwillingness to meet their commitments to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) but they say they cannot, and the result is the same.
"The US withdrew from the JCPOA and it made some countries strive in this regard," he said.
"If they use the trigger mechanism, Iran will revise its commitments to IAEA. The US violated its commitments but the door of negotiation and diplomacy is still open," Larijani added.
Elsewhere the parliament Speaker added, "We had critical negotiation with the European parliament. Their behavior is not proper in some cases. We have some disagreements and criticisms but the way is not closed."
Also, in his press conference, Ali Larijani stated that he has no plan to attend the upcoming parliamentary elections in December and presidential elections in 2021.
