Amid growing regional tensions and ongoing missile threats from Yemen, the United States has transferred advanced missile defense systems to the Zionist regime.

Why it matters:

The deployment of U.S. missile defense systems to the Zionist regime highlights both Washington’s military alignment with Tel Aviv and the regime's persistent insecurity in the face of regional resistance movements, despite possessing advanced Western military hardware. This move comes at a time when the U.S. also escalates threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran and intensifies aggression in Yemen.

What he's saying:

former commander of the Zionist regime’s air defense forces Zvika Haimovich admitted that the newly deployed American systems, including THAAD and Patriot, are not replacements but rather supplements to the regime’s existing missile shield. “These systems increase our firing capabilities. Each launcher can fire dozens of missiles. Last time, we intercepted around 200 hostile missiles,” he said. Haimovich added that the regime needs more such launchers to prepare for potential attack scenarios involving the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Key points:

  • A U.S. Air Force C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft landed at the Negev’s Nevatim Airbase after flying from Ramstein Base in Germany, delivering the missile systems.
  • This is not the first time THAAD has been deployed to occupied Palestine; a similar transfer occurred in October last year.
  • THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) is capable of intercepting missiles up to 200 km away and complements the U.S. Patriot system.
  • Despite more than six months of American missile defense deployment, the Zionist regime has repeatedly been targeted by Yemeni missiles, demonstrating the limited effectiveness of these systems against resistance movements.

Go deeper:

The United States’ continued military support of the Zionist regime, even as American forces are directly involved in regional aggression, underlines a policy of escalation and deterrence by projection. However, facts on the ground indicate that such measures have failed to offer real security to Tel Aviv. The Yemeni Ansarullah movement has not only maintained but also intensified its missile operations, further exposing the ineffectiveness of Western defense technologies against determined popular resistance.
