Iran PressAsia: Turkish jets on Saturday evening targeted several oil sites in northeastern Syria near Derik and Qamishlo.

The operations were conducted in northern Iraq and Syria at 10 p.m. local time and the targets hit included bases, shelters, and oil facilities believed to be used by PKK militants, the ministry said.

Earlier on Saturday, the Turkish defence ministry stated that 12 Turkish soldiers were killed in the Kurdistan Region in a fight with the PKK militants in Duhok province.

The PKK, on the other hand, claimed 36 Turkish soldiers were killed on Friday.

Ankara has launched several ground operations against the PKK in the Kurdistan Region’s mountainous areas since 2021. 219
