US President Donald Trump said he would announce a decision on the future of the Iran nuclear deal at 2 p.m. ET Tuesday.

Trump has threatened to withdraw from the accord, which lifted economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for Tehran limiting its nuclear ambitions, unless European signatories to the deal fix what he has called its shortcomings.

Trump’s Monday tweet follows his attack on a top official from the Obama administration in charge of negotiations that yielded the deal in 2015.

“The United States does not need John Kerry’s possibly illegal Shadow Diplomacy on the very badly negotiated Iran Deal.  He was the one that created this MESS in the first place,” he tweeted Sunday to point the finger at the former secretary of state.

Iran’s foreign minister has said exiting the nuclear deal reached between Tehran and six world powers in 2015, is among Iran’s options if the US administration decides to withdraw from the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action).

Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Iran has a wide range of options in case US decides to withdraw, and leaving the nuclear deal is only one of them.

Earlier, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has called on US President Donald Trump not to scuttle the Iran nuclear deal.

Under the multilateral nuclear agreement, Iran undertook to put limits on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against Tehran.
