Over half of the American people, 62 %, say they do not wang the U.S. to take over Gaza, figures from a survey published by Pew Center say.

Why it matters:

The Trump administration is to realize its plan of forcefully relocating the people of Gaza and the West Bank in the occupied Palestine respectively to Egypt and Jordan. Gaza and West Bank are the two remaining cities in Palestine with the full evacuation of which the U.S. can hand over the whole country to the Israeli regime.

What he's saying:

Berni Sanders on X:
"Netanyahu loves Trump's plan to force 2 million people from Gaza & turn it into a billionaires’ Riviera. He calls it "voluntary migration.”
It's not voluntary if you bomb & starve those who stay.
It’s ethnic cleansing. It's a war crime.
No more military aid to Netanyahu."

By the numbers:

49% strongly oppose the plan
15% support the take-over
71% of young Democrats have a negative attitude toward Israel
50% of young Republicans see Israel as unfavorable

Zoom in:

Within Trump's party, 44% are against the plan, and 27% support it.

The big picture:

The poll was published Tuesday and conducted prior to Trump’s meeting this week with Netanyahu, when he again floated the idea.

Trump asserted that his vision for Gaza has been well received — though it has been largely rejected publicly by most of the world, including within the U.S. and from its universities.
