Dar es Salaam (IP) - Organized by the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tanzania, several Tanzanian young athletes participated in a traditional Iranian Zurkhaneh Sports training course.

Iran Press/Africa: Wrestling in the Zurkhaneh, is a traditional Iranian athletic practice that has existed for over 3000 years. It involves a combination of physical exercises and martial arts conducted in a specially designed gym known as a Zurkhaneh. These sessions typically incorporate music and verbal chants, emphasizing physical strength, culture, and heritage.

According to Iran Press, 36 Tanzanian youths interested in Zurkhaneh sports from the cities of "Dar es Salaam," "Arusha," and "Zanzibar" learned the customs and techniques of Zurkhaneh sports for two weeks at the Iranian Cultural Attaché office in Tanzania.

"Nicolas Mihayo," the director of national sports in Tanzania, expressed gratitude to the Iranian cultural center, considering this sports course a very good initiative, and welcomed the continuation of the Zurkhaneh sports training for Tanzanian youth.
