Iran Press- Iran/ In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Tuesday, Dr. Ali Asghar Mounesan, head of the cultural heritage, handicrafts and tourism organization of Iran, talked about the city of Hamedan, in Western Iran, being chosen as a center of tourism.
Mounesan said the city of Hamedan is tourism capital 2018.
He added: "As you know this event kicked off in 2018 and is going to be continued until the end of this year (2018 ).
In November, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO ) associated members are going to hold their gathering in the city of Hamedan. Non-governmental tourism activists from all countries will arrive in Iran to take part in the gathering and our non-governmental sector will host them. This is a good opportunity to first of all introduce the city of Hamedan, and also the many tourist attraction sites of the Islamic Republic, and also to introduce Iran's huge tourism potential (to the activists who take part in this gathering)."
In further remarks, Mounesan said: "My colleagues have prepared interesting programs for both these gatherings and the international guests who are going to visit Iran this November. We tried to make use of this opportunity to introduce the country's tourist attraction sites to the world".
Asked about a newly-developpped software application for motorists and tourists, Ali Asghar Mounesan said: "This is an excellent application as yet only accessible in Tehran, but soon is going to be applied and operational across the country by March 2019.
It would reach its peak in the coming New Year in order to provide this new service to our beloved people. It is also an important point to note that we shall try to convert this application into a multilingual application, making it accessible to all English speakers , so that foreign tourists driving their cars on Iranian roads can also benefit from this application.
