Tehran (IP) - The interim Friday Prayers Leader of Tehran blamed the Western countries for their approach toward the earthquake-stricken areas of Syria and its people.

Iran PressIran News: An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale shook the south of Türkiye and the north of Syria on February 6, in the early morning. The earthquake in Syria demonstrated the inhuman behavior of the Western countries; The sanctions of the US and Europe prevented the delivery of aid to the people who were trapped under the rubble in Syria.

In the Friday Prayer sermons on February 17, Mohammad-Javad Haj Ali-Akbari referred to the Syrian and Turkish catastrophes and noted that the international community failed in the human ordeal going on in the two countries.

Haj Ali-Akbari said that the US and Europe were suffering moral decline, showing their nasty selves in the Syrian earthquake.

Due to US anti-Syria sanctions, many countries, including the European ones as well as the World Health Organization (WHO) hesitated to provide Syria with humanitarian aid under such difficult circumstances. The US claims that the sanctions are against the Syrian government, yet the Syrian nation seems to be targeted in reality.

Stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran sent aid to Türkiye and Syria, the Iranian top cleric expressed hope that with the efforts of the region's nations, including Iran, the Turkish and Syrian people's pain would be alleviated.
