The world must prevent the Israeli regime from destroying the 75-year-old UNRWA organization and the deprivation of Palestinian refugees of the most basic human rights, the spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Iran Press/Iran News: Esmail Beghaee wrote on his X account on Wednesday: "After killing more than 230 employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), the Zionist regime is now seeking to completely stop the activity of this institution in Palestine."

Baqaee called the action a heinous crime with severe consequences because UNRWA was an irreplaceable and essential institution without which the relief and humanitarian system in Gaza would collapse.

"This issue is in line with the process that has been implemented for several decades with territorial expansionism and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, and its purpose is to wipe out the Palestinians from the Palestinian land," he added.

On Monday, Israel’s parliament, Knesset, approved a resolution that banned UNRWA from operating in the Israeli-occupied territories of Palestine and made it illegal for Israeli officials to cooperate with the organization in any way. The ban was internationally criticized, and numerous global activists voiced concerns over the consequences it would entail.

The number of people killed in the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, surpassed 43,000.
