Iran Press/ Iran news: Parviz Qandali, Director of Tehran Zoo, said: "Today (Saturday), Eram Sabz Zoo witnessed the first birth of an elephant in Iran's history."
Qandali added: "The newborn elephant is female and is in perfect health condition with its mother."
Parviz Qandali also said: "Elephants have been taken care of by the experts of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) during a complete day (24 hours). A guide has been introduced to the Tehran Zoo by EAZA as well."
The director of Eram Sabz Zoo said: "The mother and baby elephants are kept in quarantine under special conditions."
