Tehran (IP) - Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) summoned the ambassador Azerbaijan Republic to Tehran following the Azeri officials' continuous claims in their media against Iran on Thursday.

Iran PressIran News: The Director General of the Eurasian Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran conveyed Tehran's strong dissatisfaction with the Azeri media and top officials' non-friendly comments about Iran.

He said: "We expect that the trend will be stopped soon and necessary measures will be taken to prevent its repetition."

The ambassador of Azerbaijan was summoned as President Ilham Aliyev got carried away and made rude comments against Iran's holding military exercises.

On Wednesday, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani reacted to remarks by Azerbaijan’s president on Iran's ties with Armenia.

"Our principled policy is based on good neighborliness and expansion of relations with all neighbors, and strengthening of ties with a neighbor does not mean those relations are against another neighbor.”
