In a vibrant display of faith and tradition, Armenian Christians in Tehran gathered today to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption, a significant event in the Christian calendar.

Iran PressIran News: The celebration, that is observed annually on August, commemorates the belief in the Mary's(Maryam) assumption into heaven.

Despite being a religious minority in Iran, where a rich tapestry of religions coexist, the Christian community freely practices its traditions. Today’s event was a testament to this freedom, as worshippers gathered at local churches to honor the Assumption.

The ceremonies included traditional prayers, hymns, and a special Mass dedicated to the Mary, mother of Jesus, reflecting the deep devotion of the community.

The Assumption celebration in Tehran featured a communal atmosphere of reverence and joy. Families lit candles, offered prayers, and shared a meal, strengthening the bonds within their community.

Processions and Marian hymns added cultural depth to the religious observance, highlighting the enduring presence of Christian traditions in Iran.

Mary, known as Maryam in the Holy Quran, holds a revered position in Islam as the mother of Jesus, or Isa in Islamic tradition. The Quran honors her as one of the most righteous women in history, and she is the only woman mentioned by name in the Quran, highlighting her importance across religious divides.
