Iran Press/ Iran news: Thousands of people from various walks of life attended a meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, on Wednesday at the Imam Khomeini Hosseiniyeh.
Here are the main topics of Leader's remark:
There should be no doubt that what has happened in Syria is the product of a joint American and Zionist plan. Yes, a neighboring government of Syria plays a clear role in this regard. It has done so - this is evident to all - but the main conspirator and the principal architect, as well as the main command center, are in the US and the Zionist regime. We have evidence for this. This evidence leaves no room for doubt.
Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution also spoke of the growing power of the Resistance Front, stating confidently, "The scope of the Resistance will extend across the entire region more than ever before, by the grace of God."
Resistance Gains Strength from External Pressure
The Leader responded directly to critics who claimed that weakening the Resistance could undermine Iran’s strength. "An ignorant analyst may believe that if the Resistance weakens, Iran will weaken too," Khamenei said. "But I tell you, by the grace of God and with His permission, Iran is strong and will become even stronger."
He portrayed the Resistance as an unstoppable force that gains strength from external pressure, asserting that "the more you apply pressure, the stronger it becomes; the more crimes you commit, the more motivated it becomes; the more you fight it, the more it expands."
Ayatollah Khamenei described ISIS as a "bomb of insecurity" with the primary aim of destabilizing Iraq, Syria, and the broader region before targeting Iran itself.
He emphasized that ISIS's ultimate goal was to undermine the Islamic Republic. “If left unchecked, this insecurity would have spread to our entire nation,” he stated.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that ISIS posed a significant threat to Islamic holy sites, intending to destroy revered shrines in cities such as Najaf, Karbala, and Damascus. Referring to the destruction of the shrine in Samarra carried out with American backing, he highlighted the importance of defending these sites. “No faithful youth devoted to Ahl al-Bayt could tolerate such desecration,” he said.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed out that addressing ISIS's threat at its source was crucial for safeguarding Iran’s security. Citing a saying by Imam Ali, he remarked, “A nation that battles the enemy on its soil faces humiliation. Do not let the enemy reach your home.”
Iran had made all preparations to assist Syria
The Leader revealed that top officials of the armed forces and military organizations had written to him, pleading to go to Lebanon because they could not bear what was happening to the country and Hezbollah.
“Compare this with an army that cannot endure and flees,” Ayatollah Khamenei, apparently referring to the Syrian army which disintegrated in the face of advancing militants.
Ayatollah Khamenei also said Iran had made all preparations to assist Syria, but the US and the Israeli regime closed all air and land routes to the country.
“We were ready even under these difficult circumstances. They came to me and said they had prepared all the facilities needed for the Syrians and were ready to go. But the skies were closed, the land was closed. The Zionist regime and the US closed both the skies of Syria and the land routes, it was not possible” to go, he said.
If the Syrians “had had a say against the enemy, it could not have closed their skies, nor could it have closed their land routes and we could have helped them”, the Leader added.
Iran Provided Strategic, Advisory support for the Syrian, and Iraqi Army
Iran’s involvement in Syria and Iraq was not about deploying its military to replace local forces but about providing strategic and advisory support. Iranian commanders, including the late General Qassem Soleimani, played a key role in organizing, training, and mobilizing local youth in Iraq and Syria.
Ayatollah Khamenei explained that Iranian advisers helped establish critical command centers, devise strategies, and directly intervened in combat only when necessary.
He further praised the eagerness of Iranian youth, particularly members of the Basij forces, who voluntarily joined efforts in the region, underscoring the unity between Iran and the people of Iraq and Syria in the fight against ISIS.
Zealous Syrian Youth Will Free Syria
Ayatollah Khamenei touched on divisions among the militant groups in Syria, saying each group has its agenda and all seek to stake out their turf.
The Leader said they would be evicted from Syria by the “zealous Syrian youth, and so will the Americans who seek to strengthen their foothold in the country.
“Each of these attackers has their agenda and their goals are different. Some of them are seeking to seize land in the north of Syria or the south.
US Looking to Empower its Foothold in Region
“These are their goals, but time will show that, God willing, none of them will achieve these goals. The occupied areas of Syria will be liberated by the zealous Syrian youth. Do not doubt that this will happen,” he said.
“America’s foothold will not be strong either. By God's grace and power, the US will also be expelled from the region by the resistance front,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.
