The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria condemned the attack of the Zionist regime on the consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the city of Damascus.

Iran Press/ West Asia: The Consular Section of the Iranian Embassy in the Syrian capital of Damascus has come under a missile attack, with immediate reports of casualties as a result of the act of aggression.

Syria's Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad denounced an Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, insisting the attack will not affect ties between the two allies.

"We strongly condemn this heinous terrorist attack that targeted the Iranian consulate building in Damascus killing several innocent people," Mekdad said in a statement carried by the Syrian official news agency SANA.

"Six people were reported martyred in the attack including commander of IRGC's Quds Force in Lebanon and Syria, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, was martyred in the Israeli aggression on Damascus".

Syria's official news agency, SANA, said the strikes were carried out by “the Israeli enemy” and targeted the Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus on Monday afternoon.

Sana, citing one of its correspondents, said "The Israeli aggression caused major destruction to the building, in addition to damage to neighboring buildings." 219
