In a historic move following Spain's official recognition of Palestine in May, King Felipe VI has received the credentials of Husni Abdelwahid as the first Palestinian ambassador to Spain.

Iran Press/Europe:  The ceremony took place at the Royal Palace in Madrid, marking a significant diplomatic milestone for both nations.

Abdelwahid, who has represented Palestine in Spain since 2022 as the head of the diplomatic mission, saw his status elevated to ambassador after Spain joined countries like Ireland and Norway in recognizing the state of Palestine.

This recognition aligns with Spain's ongoing efforts to foster closer ties with Palestine. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez recently announced plans for the first bilateral meeting between Spain and Palestine, set to take place before the end of 2024.

The move is seen as a major step forward in the international recognition and diplomatic integration of Palestine, with Spain playing a crucial role in this process.
