Iran Press/ Iran news: The Holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), a magnet attracting millions of Muslim pilgrims in the city of Mashhad every year, will be closed during the country’s New Year Holidays from over coronavirus concerns.
Also, Mohammad Reza Kalaei, mayor of the holy city has announced that “the situation in Mashhad has grown more acute” and the city “is going through its most decisive week” in the battle against the Covid-19 disease.
According to the announcement, the four main yards of the shrine of Imam Reza (AS), including the Islamic Revolution and Azadi, have been closed to pilgrims.
The library, guest houses, and prayers, and Friday prayers in the shrine of Imam Reza (AS) have been closed to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The Mashhad Metro Line-1 and 2 have also been closed from Saturday to March 24. Mashhad is in the Red Alert of the Coronavirus outbreak. 212/ 104
