IP - A video published on social media shows Slovakia's Prime Minister being carried into a car by his guards after being shot multiple times.

Iran PressEurope: Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot after a government meeting and is being treated in hospital, the country’s state news agency reported Wednesday, stressing that he is in a life-threatening condition.

BBC says Fico is currently in a severe condition and his injuries threaten his life.

He was leaving the government meeting when he was shot in the stomach, hand, and foot.  

A 71 year old Juraj Cintula, the man who shot at  Robert Fico, is a writer and supporter of the opposition party Progressive Slovakia. This is his first statement given to the Slovakian police.

Iran condemns assassination 

The spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the assassination attempt against Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico on Wednesday.

Nasser Kan'ani, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, condemned the assassination attempt against the Prime Minister of the Slovakia Republic, Robert Fico on Wednesday.

Kan'ani wished health and a speedy recovery for the Slovakian Prime Minister.
