Iran Press/America: Two people were shot dead and two others injured Saturday morning after a verbal altercation, San Francisco Bay Area police said.
Police were summoned to the residential area of East Oakland on the 1600 block of 83rd Ave. shortly after 9 am, where they discovered four individuals suffering from gunshot injuries, as reported by the Oakland Police Department.
Two of the victims died on site and two others were taken to a hospital, police said in the statement.
Several people were engaged in a verbal altercation that became deadly when one of the individuals pulled out a firearm and fired multiple rounds before fleeing the scene in a vehicle, police said.
Thousands of people lose their lives or are wounded by gunshot attacks in the US yearly. Based on official statistics, there are around 270 to 300 million guns, which is almost one gun for every American.
In 2023, more than 600 people have been killed in mass shootings in the US, the highest death toll from mass shootings in at least 10 years.
