Abuja (IP) - The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky has said that the resistance and successful Islamic Revolution led by Imam Khomeini is a legacy and product of Imam Hussain's sacrifice in Karbala.

Iran PressAfrica: While addressing a large number of Ashura mourners in Abuja on Wednesday, Sheikh Zakzaky noted that if Imam Hussain had paid allegiance to tyrant Yazid, the whole Islam would have been destroyed or changed into something different. But with the resistance of Imam Hussain, the original Islam continues to exist in the world.

"Iran's Islamic Revolution is the product and legacy of Imam Hussain's sacrifice in Karbala. Imam Khomeini (R) and the Iranians were inspired by the resistance of Imam Hussain and his companions, and that was the secret to the success of the Iranians' revolution," he said.

Also during his interview with journalists, Sheikh Zakzaky shed more light, on this matter, saying apart from Iran, the resistance in Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and Iraq are a result of Imam Hussain's sacrifice. "Imam Hussain has sacrificed his life. His legacy has created a revolution in the world. Even the Islamic Republic of Iran is a result of that event. And what we see also, such as the Axis of Resistance in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen are all products of the School of Resistance of Imam Hussain," he noted.

Speaking on the false democracy in the United States, Sheikh Zakzaky said: "It has been cleared that America is doing nothing but lies about democracy. The people in the West, USA, and Western Europe come in their hundreds of thousands, even in their millions to show solidarity with Palestinians and to express their grievances against their governments. They show that governments do not represent them. Because their governments continue to support the atrocities being committed against Palestinians. This means that their governments are not representing them. Therefore, democracy has become a false narration and false theory because it doesn't exist in the West. People have to take their destiny into their own hands."
