Iran Press/ Middle East:The mercenaries of US-backed Saudi-led aggression coalition fired over two dozen artillery shells at various areas in Hodeidah province including al-Hani region on late Saturday.
The Saudi backed militants also fired more than 26 artillery shells at al-Zaafran village and at Science and Technology University in the port of Hodeidah, according to an Iran Press report.
Hodeidah, a lifeline for millions of Yemenis, has seen some of the heaviest fighting in the Saudi-led aggression, which began in March 2015.
The ceasefire sponsored by UN between Sanaa delegation and Riyadh delegation went into effect from 18 Dec 2018 in Hodeidah but the Saudi coalition has violated the truce almost every day.
The warring parties in Yemen reached the ceasefire agreement on the Red Sea Ansarullah-held port of Hodeidah on December 13.
The fourth round of Yemen peace talks began on 6 December 2018 with the participation of Yemeni warring sides and headed by Martin Griffiths, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Yemen's affairs in Stockholm of Sweden and led to ceasefire agreement on Hodeidah on Thursday 13 December 2018.
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates launched the Hodeidah offensive in June but have been facing strong resistance from Yemeni armed forces — led by the Houthi Ansarullah movement— as well as the city’s residents.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia, UAE and some of Arab allies backed by US have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the Saudi deadly military campaign, also more than ten thousand injured and millions Yemeni stranded from their homes.
Saudi Arabia's military aggression has also hit Yemen's poor country with severe food and drug shortages.
The Saudi-led war has also taken a heavy toll on the country’s infrastructure, destroying hospitals, schools, and factories. The UN has already said that a record 22.2 million Yemenis are in dire need of food, including 8.4 million threatened by severe hunger. According to the world body, Yemen is suffering from the most severe famine in more than 100 years.
The assaults of the Saudi-led coalition forces have failed to stop the Yemenis from resisting the aggression.
