Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, referring to the desecration of the Holy Quran in front of the Swedish Parliament, said that the repeated insults to the Holy Quran are not acceptable with any justification.

Iran PressMiddle East: On Monday, the Swedish police granted a permit for the protest by campaigners hoping to see the Holy Quran banned in the country.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) criticized Sweden and Denmark's response to the repeated Quran desecrations on Monday, as the Swedish leader said the two countries are in discussions about a possible ban on such acts.

Faisal bin Farhan made these statements at today's emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to investigate repeated insults to the Holy Quran in a number of Western countries.

Saudi Arabia's top diplomat said: "It is the duty of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its member countries to play a role in coordination, cooperation and convergence with other Islamic organizations to defend the values of tolerance and peace, protect and expand them, and reject intolerance, extremism and the spread of hatred."

The Saudi Foreign Minister emphasized that the global culture of tolerance and peace will only be based on coordinated international efforts to promote the principles of respect and acceptance of religions in all societies. 219
