Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova, in an interview with TASS News Agency on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, described the upcoming U.S. elections as a "hellish show."

Iran PressEurope:  Zakharova criticized the nature of the U.S. elections, comparing it to "Halloween" and dismissing it as meaningless and absurd. "The candidates are not defending their positions," she said, adding, "They have turned the elections into a theatrical performance, where there is no room for genuine election programs, debates, or comments without insults."

She further pointed out the manipulation of information and propaganda surrounding the election, specifically between U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s nominee, and Donald Trump, the Republican nominee.

Amidst speculation over his capability to compete against Trump, U.S. President Joe Biden, 81, withdrew from the November 5, 2024, presidential race, ultimately endorsing his Vice President, Kamala Harris, as the Democratic nominee.

On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Americans will head to the polls to elect their next president. The winner will begin a four-year term in January 2025.
